Studio 33 is voting from a new location!

August 30, 2010

For those of you wondering where Studio 33 has gone:

The move to a location that will facilitate the production center for the Studio Earth Signature Series is now complete. After unpacking more than a hundred boxes, the studio is functioning and I am ready to get back to work. Meanwhile, since we coasted the month of August in Pepsi Refresh, we are gearing up and calling out a voting alert to everyone.

With only 2 days left for August, we need to increase support for our partners and help them get their grants this month. I am calling on everyone in the community to help us prepare for our position in Pepsi Refresh for September, by voting on line for  Studio33&Friends and text message from your cell phones if you have that function. These last few days and the first few days of each month are so critical. Each month is a little tougher, and we want to win this. Your votes – your dedicated votes to all of our partners as well, will make this happen. Please start voting these text votes now, and all through September. We will provide a new list on Sept. 1. We will keep you updated as often as possible.

Text message to 73774, using just the following #’s. You don’t have to type in the project name.

Getting Involved Now

July 6, 2010

The last post made regarding Studio 33’s  position for the $50K Pepsi grant was published on July 2nd, just before the holiday weekend. We do hope that everyone had an enjoyable and safe Fourth of July. This is an urgent update.

Studio 33 has remained diligent and focused for this final month in what appears to be a very competitive and challenging contest for a grant to do good in the community. Each month, the competition grows more fierce than before. This blog tells what we’ve learned, what everyone in Haywood County needs to know and what Studio 33 is hoping for.

Studio 33 has been able to get close and even into a leading position with the help of those of you who are voting, but also largely because of the internal support we have acquired from our grassroots coalitions of other projects seeking grants to do great things in their own communities. That is how and why we have developed lists of multi-projects and encouraged you to vote for our partners. Up until now, this was a challenge to many of you for a number of reasons, time being the biggest factor. Bogged down with pages taking forever to load, it is no surprise that many voters turned  away.

We have solved that problem! In this blog are multi-project links that take you quickly and directly to one single page that allows you to vote for ten pre-selected projects, including Studio 33. In less than 1 minute you will be able to vote  for all the projects we are asking you to support. These projects are all noble causes that are helping us all by voting, so your vote in return is a gesture of gratitude. After all, they are voting for You! Of course, you may have other projects that you want to seek out and support, or maybe you want to help support some local NC projects, which to that end, I have already organized for you in our multi-string link! Studio 33 has basically made it very easy for all of you now to do your part. It’s time for Studio 33 to take the back seat and give you – the community of Haywood County, the helm.

The back seat for Studio 33 means being a jeweler. I have much work to catch up on as a result of the time I have personally spent designing this spectacular Studio Earth piece for you. Everyone likes our idea of helping many nonprofits and now  it is up to all of you to implement your own promotional plans to get people voting. That is the job that you are required to do as participants in this social enterprise.

You all have bases. You have a board, you have members and you have supporters. Some have more than others. Some of you have websites. You can put links on your website. Some of you have paid staff. They should all be voting too! Most all of you have some way in which you can promote this idea NOW, to motivate people to vote. Because of the stiff competition, Studio 33 is going to need thousands of collective votes from this community to get back into the lead, and this is what we are counting on and, hoping for. If you want us to help you raise money annually with a significant and sustainable source of revenue, than we need you to get everyone who supports you voting.

Creatively Funding Community Needs

July 2, 2010

Day Two of the First Three in This Last Month

July will be the last month that Studio Thirty Three participates in the Pepsi Refresh Everything Project for a $50K. We have started the month of really strong, and are in the top ten to receive this grant, which is very exciting! However, in order to stay there everyone in the community that this grant will support needs to do their  part of getting on line and voting every day.

Studio Thirty Three really needs community involvement. We have worked hard at achieving this goal. The design of the Studio Earth Initiative alone has incredible potential for the community and will be more quickly realized if this grant were behind it with additional resources. To recap how it works:

There will be 33 unique pieces of jewelry that pair with nonprofits, 33 different charities that serve different purposes from feeding hungry people to sheltering the homeless and helping stray animals. We’ve covered almost every level of need you can imagine. The project is divided into three phases, supporting local in phase one, regional and national in phase two, and international organizations in phase three, all of which are doing important work on our planet. The first phase is what this grant is about, and it supports 11 charities in western NC, the local piece. You can scroll and read older blogs to get a clear picture and a list of these charities. Or watch this short 4 minute slide show video. http://bit.ly/dco6AH

Studio Thirty Three has been slowly developing this plan for several years. Thirty percent of retail profits is a generous contribution to the nonprofits it supports. The  ultimate goal of a production center  in Haywood County embraces all of the craft mediums at the point of phase three where the plan becomes global. That projection is marked for 2012. In the natural order of things, phase one has to happen first. Phase one alone potentially raises a great deal of money, tens of thousands of dollars annually to be divided by the charities that Studio Thirty Three has partnered with in the Studio Earth Initiative. Additionally, it brings a substantial revenue stream into Haywood County. Everyone has a vested interest in this. It is a very doable WIN-WIN-WIN scenario!

If you are a nonprofit that is on board to receive funds sourced from the hard work of Studio 33’s  initiative “Studio Earth”, than I hope and trust you are participating in this grant  by really getting on board to promote the need for the on line votes that are necessary to secure our position to receive this grant. Studio Thirty Three has made it to the leader board by aligning with other great projects within the cyber walls of Pepsi, projects, that we hope you too are supporting. Voting only takes a few minutes once you are registered. It is not difficult. I personally have spent many countless hours on this project to get it this far, I am passionate about it still, and I am counting now on the votes we need from everyone in the community that has said “what a great idea”! Everyone who is in support of the nonprofits and this social enterprise business model that can offer great assistance in a challenging world, needs to be voting. That is what will secure our leader position and get this project funded.

Please vote now. Please vote every day. Your votes are how this will happen.

Studio 33 started July with position #2. We are currently position #8. We have to stay in the top ten! Studio 33 can easily be position #1 if everyone just did that one simple thing. VOTE.

How to vote:

  • Go to this link and login by clicking on the “vote for this idea” tab.
  • Enter your login or first register your profile with simple info like name and DOB so Pepsi knows you are 13 years or more.
  • Once logged in, click on the “vote for this idea” tab again.
  • Follow the  links listed below. These  projects have helped us get into the lead. Please use one of your remaining votes to vote for them also.
  • Skip Program
  • Research to Reality

Please follow our recommendations of using all ten votes and vote for the NC groups as well. Voting for these others is like voting again for Studio 33 because they are supporting us too! You can find those listed on our post of  “North Carolina vote local”.

Thank you all for listening to this very important, Last Call.

The Last Three

June 28, 2010

Three Days Left and So Much Can Happen!

If all of Haywood County reading the news gets online and votes every day  the community would take Studio 33’s project to the lead, where it needs to be to receive funding. That is our hope. There are only three days left, or otherwise, you will be voting daily again in July for us to win. If you want to see change happen, then you have to be a part of the change. You have to vote, and you can do that with the click of a mouse.

For Studio Thirty Three (and most everyone in the Pepsi Refresh Everything Program), applying for a grant to do good work in support of community has been challenging and time consuming. It has been more than a full time job. It has however been rewarded in the form of connections. Inside the cyber walls of Pepsi Refresh, we have formed some strategic alliances, and through it all we have become a group of dedicated partners, committed to helping each other rise to the top. This has also allowed Studio 33 to make it even easier for all of you, to select from our list of favorites on how you would like to use your remaining votes.

If you are reading this post it is perhaps because you are following the progress of Studio 33. You are musing as you drink your morning coffee about how and where and for what to vote for. You are aware that there are ten votes to cast and you want to make sure that you voice your opinion each day. There are some great projects out there. So many more than ten and we at Studio 33 have been trying to figure out how to support them all. Well, you decide. You have ten votes each day and we urge you to use them.

Below is our list, however long, of projects that we have supported. Some have been with us since the beginning and have become not just our allies, but our friends. These  solid partnerships are making our journey possible and we are grateful. So while you are voting for Studio Thirty Three, muse over some of the other great ways in which we can change America with these generous Pepsi grants. But you have to vote!

Here’s our  list:

Studio Thirty Three (Studio 33 in Pepsi land) has been honored to take part in these alliances as we look forward to keeping in touch with many we’ve met, even after we receive our grants and the Pepsi is gone.

Studio 33 News and Press Release June 21, 2010

June 21, 2010

Votes Have Measurable Impact:

and Everyone Gets Ten!

If you had ten votes to cast that would impact your immediate community, or the global community at large, would you use them? Choosing from Health and Wellness, to Neighborhoods, Art and Culture, The Planet or Food and Shelter, these categories in the Pepsi Refresh Everything Campaign have brought up some very compelling projects and widely promising ideas, all seeking various levels of funding. Over the course of this year, 20M dollars will be shared to spark an altruistic American dream, as 32 grants per month will be awarded to those receiving the most online votes.

For example, here is a scenario: One of Waynesville’s very own businesses has launched a creative social enterprise plan to raise awareness while providing critical funding to many different charities annually. On April 1, Studio 33 business owner Diannah Beauregard submitted an application for a $50K Pepsi grant and the process took one month to be available for online voting, but two months to get this close to the finish line. With additional community support and continued support from all of the organizations that will benefit from this initiative, Studio 33 will slide into home stretch by the end of this month. “You have to start voting now, and vote every day for this vision to be realized”. But it’s not just a vision of a small local business impacting community in a positive way, and getting this grant; there is more on the table here. A great deal more.

“It’s not just about the Pepsi, or the grants” says Beauregard, “it’s more about the relationships that are formed along the way, the partnerships of team leaders aligning to support each other and the networking of goodness. I have found new hope in a crippled world by meeting some incredible people with a higher purpose to serve, not to mention the potentials of these giant issues to find optimal resolve through funding. And we as a community in America are being given ten votes each to cast in their favor.”

Diannah has formed several campaigns within the cyber walls of Refresh Everything. From a “Let’s Vote Local, NC Projects” to the recent and most compelling “Medical Research Triangel (tri-angel or MRT). Beauregard’s ability to strategically form partnerships is demonstrated by the joining of the AIDS Research Alliance that will be funded for a 250K research grant, the International Rett Syndrome Foundation (IRSF) also for a $250K research grant and University of Florida with the Herpes Treatment Coalition for a $50K grant. With Studio 33 positioned at the center, the 3 large medical research groups are joined by a common thread to form the triangle, or tri-angel as she calls it. Diannah believes that this is going to lead to some major breakthroughs in medicine. The world is ready. These things are long overdue.

AIDS Research Alliance is developing a new treatment strategy to overcome a major stumbling block to cure: eliminating all virus from the body. To cure a disease caused by a pathogen, the treatment must eradicate ALL TRACES of the pathogen.

While existing treatments slow the progression of HIV disease, a small amount of virus (or the genetic material needed to create new virus) remains in the body, hiding in pockets or “reservoirs”. In these HIV reservoirs, the virus escapes the reach of even the most powerful anti- HIV drugs. When treatment is interrupted, these reservoirs flood the body with new virus, re-igniting the infection. Thus, no cure is possible without emptying the HIV reservoirs of latent of persistent virus. Today, AIDS Research Alliance is the ONLY research organization developing a drug that targets the HIV reservoirs. TO complete the research, they need several new pieces of lab equipment.

The University of Florida is on board to receive a 50K grant for the testing of a new Herpes Treatment. The proposed project plan outlines experiments in the study that will help to determine if the new ribozyme approach can treat recurrent infections of HSV-1 in the eye. If successful, plans to move forward to develop the treatment for eye infections of humans. In addition, future studies using a similar approach could be developed to treat oral HSV-1 infections, and to develop HSV-2 riboymes as an alternative treatment for genital infections of humans.

The IRSF “Research to Reality Campaign” has promising evidence that the pathway to a cure is clear from 10 years of laboratory research. A genetic disorder, by 18 months of age, robs a seemingly healthy girl of her ability to walk, talk, or take care of herself, going on to suffer additional worsening symptoms like seizures, breathing difficulties and scoliosis. The Rett Syndrome is the most severe from of autism known, affecting only girls. Your vote cast here could open up a treatment protocol, how significant

Diannah’s alchemical formula of this MRT alliance is most compelling and should galvanize everyone to vote. The triangle sits on a well-defined foundation of two grant projects that support children – and our future. Skip Program is lining up for a $250K grant to make dreams of underprivileged children come true, while Lil’ Iguana has designed a program to effectively educated children to keep them safe from harm.

“There’s something bigger going on here” she says in confidence, “this is not about me or my business, it is a much bigger picture and I am in awe to be standing in the center of the structure by bringing this potential to you. NOW YOU MUST VOTE!!! Be the change you want to see in America with 10 minutes or less a day of voting. There is no excuse for you not to be voting. If you don’t have a computer, then surely you can find someone that does.”

Diannah Beauregard has chosen this time to get the Studio Earth Initiative going.

“Timing is everything, and this project just couldn’t wait any longer”. Diannah Beauregard says it has taken too long already, but with a substantial grant from Pepsi for $50K Diannah says she will be able to complete phase one in this first year. With so many nonprofits experiencing budget cuts, this plan outlines a way in which many local agencies can receive annual funding with potential for growth. This also fuels the local economy. Now isn’t that refreshing?

Some of the organizations that are paired with this project include: The Haywood Animal Welfare Association, Haywood County Arts Council, Haywood Habitat for Humanity, Haywood Community College Foundation, Friends of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Manna Food Bank, National Alliance on Mental Illness, Neighbor to Family, North Carolina Autistic Living and Learning, REACH of Haywood County, and yet others yet to be named. Beauregard’s plan will embrace every critical need with a plan to unfold over the next several years in three phases. Each phase serves 11 charities starting with local and expanding globally when complete.

For more information, please follow the blog posts on Studio 33 website, (studio33jewelry.com). Additionally, if you are interested in offering support to this initiative, please feel free to contact Diannah Beauregard by email, at studio33earth@gmail.com. And, remember to vote every day for all of these projects, Studio 33, AIDS Research, Herpes Treatment, Retts, Skip Program and Lil’ Iguana, and be a part of the cure in our society.

NC Projects for Pepsi Grants – VOTE Local

June 15, 2010

I write this post with half of June gone now, but still alive is my desire to create a North Carolina coalition of projects all involved in the Pepsi Refresh Campaign to change America. The corporate giant, Pepsi, is giving away 20 million dollars this year to fund projects all across America, and 32 monthly awards (1.3 million dollars) will be given based on public on line votes.

In this post we are suggesting  a coalition that supports a  campaign of Voting Early, Voting Daily and Voting Local, for North Carolina projects that will serve to impact many different things in our state. This list includes:

Wouldn’t it be nice to get all of these projects funded, enriching our state of North Carolina with such a broad scope of great ideas?

Studio Thirty Three (Studio33) has been on board with Pepsi Refresh since May. Chosen out of thousands of applicants in April submissions, the Studio Earth initiative is designed to assist many charities with a sustainable form of revenue annually. This unique and creative social enterprise has come at a time when many nonprofits are cutting back on staffed positions because of budget cuts, so much so that a plan such as this is critically useful. Additionally it has a potential for expansion to include a global picture. This is a true social enterprise, developed creatively with a unique triple bottom line.

Thirty percent of retail profits will go directly to fund many organizations. This is a substantial contribution to community. What this means as sustainable income for the organizations on board to receive is significant. This is why the organizations  are all behind this and supporting it and why all of the people in the community need to be supporting this grant program. Daily votes are needed until the goal is realized. We are so close at 27! So if you haven’t started voting yet, do it now.  The links to the projects listed are active and will take you directly to the Pepsi site to vote.

Some of the organizations that we are currently supporting or planning to support this year with each new piece include:

  • Haywood Animal Welfare Association (HAWA)
  • Haywood Community College Foundation:  The Bridge Scholarship Program
  • Haywood County Arts Council
  • Haywood Habitat for Humanity
  • Friends of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park
  • Manna Food Bank  (serving Haywood County and the Open Door Community Kitchen)
  • National Association on Mental Illness  (NAMI)
  • Neighbor to Family
  • North Carolina Creative AutisticLIving and Learning, Inc. (NCCALL)
  • REACH of Haywood County

There are more to be announced that will include Aid to Veterans and Military Families, critical prenatal and neonatal care, early childhood education and many more as the project develops. Your vote for Studio 33 to receive this award from Pepsi is a vote for every organization we have named including those yet to come aboard.

Thank you for your interest and continued support. We welcome any questions and are open to having dialogue with anyone wanting to learn more – and better yet, anyone who wants to volunteer some time to help in our endeavors!

You can also find Studio 33 on Facebook. as well as a complete list of the many projects that we have teamed with and have shared support with. Please choose to use your votes on any of your favorites. After all, Pepsi is giving you ten votes!

Studio Thirty Three and the Studio Earth Initiative

It’s not Just About the Pepsi

June 11, 2010

Dear Friends and Supporters of Studio Thirty Three,

After almost 6 weeks of Pepsi Refresh Everything campaign to receive a $50k grant, we have learned much. We have also moved from position 351 in the beginning, to 29! We think that is amazing and we owe it all to you, those of you who are voting to support this worthwhile initiative to assist so many different nonprofit organizations in our community. We also owe a lot of our success in this campaign to the many great projects that are also supporting us. The alliances formed between the project leaders combined with local support are an awesome way to really shape America with Pepsi’s money.

We have a special thanks to the many volunteers in all of these groups, helping to keep up with the pace. I don’t think any of us counted on our live’s being consumed by this process. This has certainly been the ride of my life with so many layers to what is really going on.

Educating the public about the true nature of a social enterprise has been the most challenging, but I think people are starting to catch on. This project, The Studio Earth Initiative was launched earlier this year for one purpose and one purpose alone: To Support Community by Bridging the World of  Art and Social Needs. This strategic social enterprise business model potentially gives many nonprofits a consistent and steadily increasing annual revenue stream, helping to offset their budget cuts. This is a true win-win-win scenario, the triple bottom line.

We will have more time for dialogue on this subject later, but for now, I wanted to post this overdue update to let everyone know that it is critical for you to continue voting daily until we reach our goal of the top ten. We are so close. You can also vote easily in Facebook, as well as share the voting application with all of your friends. We have listed on our wall, some of the many projects that support us, including a Vote Local NC list which includes the NC trio in Eastern NC. Below is a complete list of our favorites, and hope that you can take whatever time you have to cast your votes for ten favorite ideas that will change America in some way. Please don’t hesitate to contact us through email if you have any questions, and Thank you for voting daily! We will get this grant and it will be because you voted every day!

Sincerely and in Service,

10 Really Great Ideas

May 12, 2010

Make 10 really great ideas happen with a click.

This is probably the easiest no-cost way to make some great ideas happen.

We want to share with you the great ideas that We’ve been supporting in the Pepsi Refresh Grant Project. Pepsi is giving away $1,300,000.00 each month to fund some really great ideas that impact communities in positive ways. They are  asking us to vote for the projects we think are the most innovative and worthwhile to become funded.  The grassroots approach to impacting the world creatively is more powerful now with the tenacity of the internet and we’ve made it easy by listing some that we like here. You can also find some of your favorites and share them in the Studio Earth Initiative group, after all, we get ten votes each day, so lets use them wisely.

Please vote everyday for your favorite ideas (We hope Studio33 is one!), so they will win the Pepsi grants. If you can, leave a comment each day for each idea, letting them know that you voted for them and to please vote for Studio33.

So here they are, complete with the tiny urls, in case you want to put them on your facebook or twitter feeds.
